Bowdoin International Music Festival
Founded in 1964 by Artistic Director Lewis Kaplan and the late Robert K. Beckwith, the Bowdoin College International Music Festival presents six weeks each summer of distinguished classical artists from renowned chamber groups, orchestras and conservatories worldwide. These professional and extraordinary young musicians travel to Brunswick, Maine each summer to participate in the Bowdoin International Music Festival.

Monday Showcase | Programs will be posted March 2015
The 2015 Monday Showcase series builds on the success of last summer’s Beethoven String Quartet series, featuring resident and guest quartets in concerts that will feature both string quartet repertoire and collaborations between the quartets and Festival faculty. Four renowned groups will perform: the Dover, Miro, Pacifica, and Ying Quartets.

The Wednesday Upbeat! series features a varied repertoire of traditional and contemporary works performed in the intimate environs of Studzinski Recital Hall
Festival Fridays | Programs will be posted March 2015
Festival Fridays concerts feature resident and guest artists in performances of beloved works by composers of the past 350 years.
Gamper Festival of Contemporary Music | Programs will be posted July 2015
The Gamper Festival has presented the works of 20th century and contemporary American composers, including the Festival’s composers-in-residence, guest composers, and top participants, since 1965. All performances take place at 7:30 PM in Studzinski Recital Hall, Bowdoin College. Suggested donation $10.00.
Bowdoin Festival Extra | Programs will be posted July 2015
Bowdoin Festival Extra presents special events throughout the summer. Concerts and public masterclasses feature our resident artists and top participants; lectures and demonstrations feature faculty and guest presenters. Events are posted as they are scheduled. Tickets are not required, all events are free.
Artists of Tomorrow | Dates will be posted as they become available
The Artists of Tomorrow series presents performances by the extraordinary young musicians who come to the Festival from conservatories and graduate schools in more than twenty-five countries. All concerts are open to the public and are held in Studzinski Recital Hall, at the center of the Bowdoin College campus.
Many of the off-campus Artists of Tomorrow community concerts are also open to the public.
Maine State Music Theatre
The Maine State Music Theatre, now in its 57th season, offers Broadway-caliber musical theatre throughout the summer. The 2015 production season offers a terrific array of productions for all tastes and pleasures.

The Full Monty | June 3 - 20, 2015
While spying on their wives at a “Girls’ Night Out,” a group of unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo see how much the girls enjoy watching male strippers. Jealous, out of work, and feeling emasculated the men come up with a bold way to make some quick cash. They discover they’re stronger as a group and the strength they find in each other gives them the individual courage to “let it go.”
Sister Act | June 24 – July 11, 2015
Sister Act is the feel-amazing musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film that will have you jumping to your feet! Featuring original music by TONY and 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty And The Beast, Little Shop Of Horrors), this uplifting musical was nominated for 5 TONY Awards including Best Musical.
The Music Man | July 15 – August 1, 2015
It’s 76 trombones, 110 cornets and YOU for this classic: Meredith Willson’s THE MUSIC MAN. A family-friendly story to be shared with every generation, this six-time Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957.
Young Frankenstein | August 5 -22, 2015
Coming to a village near you (Brunswick, Maine) to close out our season is Mel Brooks’ hilarious musical comedy YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. With memorable tunes such as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ On The Ritz,” YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is scientifically-proven, monstrously good entertainment.

It’s non-stop FUN starting at 6:45 when our 7 outside stages of entertainment come alive with an eclectic display of talent! FOOTLIGHT FOLLIES is an evening of “theatre” with virtually no rules, featuring skits, singing, dancing, music, comedy and more.
